Listening to music has always been  hugely interesting for me. From listening to stuff my dad played on a crappy old hi fi system when I was a little ankle biter , through going to Woolworths at a tender age ( of all places ) to buying the latest record ( and by record I mean vinyl ) to listening to XFM everyday, reading NME throughly and buying almost an CD album everyweek, I'm totally addicted to music.
My first every record I ever bought was Wishing I Was Luck by WET WET WET. ( yeah I know, what the F*CK were you thinking!! I was only seven at the time, my music taste hadn't evolved yet!)
The music I was listening to at the time were bands like the aforements drips, duran duran, a-ha, simply red, Alison Moyet, Culture Club, Level 42 etc ( thinking back now, it still sends a shiver down my spin! I have to say that the 80's are a decade I could happily erase from my memory without any remorse!) During that time music wasn't really my main intersest, come to think of it, I don't know what was. It wasn't until about 1990, when I heard Sit Down By JAMES and wham-mo!!! Hello world! This song was the entry ticket I had been waiting for.

One of the first albums I bought was in a music store in St Helier, Jersey, whilst on hoilday in 1992.  It was a tape album of America's Least Wanted by UGLY KID JOE. As a terrible teenager this album was a real eye opener. Songs such as Neighbor, Cats In The Cradle, Goddamn Devil, So Damn Cool and the anthemic Everything About You completely and totally change my outlook! This was my first taste of ROCK music and it was cool (early 90's american rock was bands like UGLY KID, GUNS & ROSES, BON JOVI etc)! To this day I still play the album! Most my friends at school were into GNR, nobody had heard of UGLY KID JOE (this must have been the first time that I had heard of a band that no else had, and today that is still the case, I had researched and found a new band!!) ROCK music would be my main choice of music to listen to!!! Music suddenly came crashing into my life!

A couple of years later I got into bands like Blur, Pulp, Oasis etc. This was the mid 90's when I was leaving school with bugger all qualifications and moving to college to try and bum another couple of years on the educational system. These bands were, unknown to me at the time, to change my direction of music taste to a level of alternative music, Independent music - INDIE!

It was in 1998 that things again changed. I was introduced to a magzazine called SELECT (which sadly has been discontinued) which really opened my eyes up to "Alternative" bands. I was reading about bands I never knew exsisted. Bands such as EMBRACE, INSPIRATIONAL CARPETS, BIG LEAVES, CATATONIA, STEREOPHONIC, THE VERVE and many more. EMBRACE to this day are one of my favourite bands! At the turn of the Millienia I heard a song called Yellow which hit me like no other song I've ever heard. I wanted to find out more about the band who performed this song. Who were they? Did they have an album out? Are they are more songs like this? All this was infactically answered when I found the aforementioned song in a record shop. COLDPLAY there and then became (and will always be) my favourite band!!! I bought Parachutes and was sucked into the new world of COLDPLAY, never once looking back. Other bands have influcened by such as Razorlight, The Libertines, Kaiser Chiefs, The Datsuns, Oasis, The D4 and many many more!!! Current band of the moment for me (apart from Coldplay) is Babyshambles! Pete Doherty is one of the best lyricst and musicians of our generation! The Libertines were the band of our generation and now Babyshambles are following in there footsteps!! Oh yeah and Pete supports QPR FC!!!! Top man !!!
