According to NME (13/8) Babyshambles have reformed. Album sessions are to resume after successful one off show. The band played a gig at Stoke Underground Club on August 1st. The band were reported to original use that day for rehearsals but decided to play a gig instead to allow fans to see the band live. The band allegedly hired a taxi to take them from London to Stoke, which came to the pricey sum of £320. (Once the gig was done, the band hired another taxi to take them back to London, this time the cost was £170). During the show, Babyshambles played three sets to over 300 fans who had paid £2 to entry the venue. The fans were apparently unaware as who was to play, as all attendees thought that it was just going to be a regular Monday Indie club night. As soon as they found out who was to play, people started calling their mates, this lead to over 200 strong crowd being denied entrance. Between sets, Pete Doherty, went out side to those who could get in and signed autographs and had his picture taken.
Babyshambles drumer Adam Ficek was quizzed by NME asking some enticing questions about work on the album and rescheduling the cancelled tour. He was stated as saying that concerning the album " We're hoping to go in (to the studio) either later this week or next week and complete the album. It's 90 per cent complete. We've not decided on the tracklisting and that's why it's taking so long because there's about 26 tracks. There's probably a 12-track album finished - a 12, 13 track album. We worked on some songs and not others and they got left aside. My personal favourites would be 'Pipe Down' and 'A Rebour'. All the stuff's been done with Mick Jones".
Concerning the tour he said " The tour's going to be rescheduled - we're hoping to tag it on the end of Reading and Leeds. And I'm just about to organize a picnic busking session somewhere in a park in London to work on some new tunes. As a four-piece. We're just deciding where to go. We just want to go and play out in the open. We're based in North London, Islington way. We've got all the instruments on board."
Liam Gallagher has said Babyshambles will never support Oasis again as Pete failed to turn up to their Southampton gig. Babyshambles were kicked off the Oasis tour after missing a support slot at the Rose Bowl.
