Date:- Sunday June 26th
Venue:- The Peel, Kingston
Time:- 18:34
Band:- ANONYMOUS TIP

I heard a whisper on the grape vine that ANONYMOUS TIP where playing a gig at The Peel in Kingston, on Sunday 26th June, along side a sea of other bands in a punk/rock orientated five hour medlee of fast and furious music! So I grab a pen and paper, my trusty dictaphone and raced down with Mr C, who was the website's official photographer, to grab an exclusive with the band. Here's what happened!

The day is Sunday, June 26th, the time is 18:34, I'm here with Simon, Sanj, Taran, Adrian [also] known as ANONYMOUS TIP!
I know you guys have just come off a nationwide tour! Can you tell us what life is like on the road with ANONYMOUS TIP?

Sanj "Loads of Sex, debauchery, drugs, guns, Space-ships, Emo, gangreen, Punk"

Taran "Crack dens, Space-ships, Jam, Fajitas"

Simon "Gerbils!"

So it's a pretty full on life style?

Sanj "It's pretty crazy yeah, but it's good - no money, not getting paid! Getting robbed in Liverpool, soundman getting down with it! Yeah, loads of Fellas involved!"

Taran "Loads of Fellas!!!"

Excellent, so of all the venues you've played, what was the best place of the tour?

Simon "Liverpool!"

Adrian "No It fucking wasn't!!!

Taran "Reel!!"

All "Reel was fucking excellent!!!"

So if that was the best venue, what was the Worst?

All "LIVERPOOL!!!"

Unanimously Liverpool!

Sanj "We liked Liverpool, the promoter at the venue, had told us at the last minute that someone had died, and that he had to cancel us, so we turned up to find, found out, he just didn't want us to play, he didn't want us to get the show. We had fans from Manchester coming, who had hired a mini-bus, we couldn't get in contact with them, so we put a sign to say that we were playing somewhere else. A place called Katie's house which was a basement, next door to a crack den!"

Taran "Which was in a road with only four houses you could live, boarded up, bricked up, with corragated iron everywhere, full of nutters, crack dealers!"

Simon "And the front door was made from two inch thick steel"

Taran " And a little kid, who was holding a snooker cue at the door!

"Have you every experience anything like this at previous gigs?"

Sanj "No I wasn't scared I was with Babar Luck, these guys were scared!"

Adrian "I was armed with a fucking guitar, because a load of hippies were trying to nick the van!"

Taran "I had my drum sticks!!"

So you all were prepared, in an event of full scale riot!

Taran "We were, we had many weapons!!"

Simon "I would have cried! and blamed it all on Sanj!"

Taran "There were these little kids checking out the van, and they would go back and tell their parents, to come out and try and nick stuff!"

What was your worst ever experience at a gig?

Taran "Quack-o"

Sanj "Quack-o festival in Amsterdam, because two songs into are set, someone tried to turn us off, so I kicked this plant which was on the stage"

Taran "It was the sound guy!"

Sanj "Yeah this sound guy, I kicked the plant which flew past his head, I wanted to hit him with the plant, and he was like 'I go crazy, I don't like you!' We got fed which we pretty cool, but yeah that was pretty bad!"

Taran "It was like some kind of indonesesian food, or Mongolian gawalla halla maay! with french fries"

What exactly was that?

Taran "I don't know it kinda looked like puke!

Sanj "It was tasty, there were nice people there."

Taran "I went to the Ritz once that was puke, mushroom puke! Just for the record"

"So if that was your worst gig experience, what has been your best gig experience?"

Sanj "Ham Festival 2003, that was fucking awesome!"

Taran "That was good, that was good!!"

Sanj "There was a lot of people there going crazy, that was amazing, they knew all the words!!"

Simon "Every single time Reel's been really good, it's definitely worth the six hour drive!"

Sanj "Any of your bands out there who want to play, go to Reel! There's no one else there expect punkers, its amazing"!

Taran "Unless your a punk, don't go there if your not a punk! Well you can, there friendly, they'll welcome you"

It's that were you started off? Was that you first gig?

Taran "Rowen's Cafe in Kew! We were a jazz band then"

Sanj "Rowen's in Brentford, opposite Brentford Leisure Centre!"

Who has been the best band you've seen, the best band you've played with, the best band you've supported?

All "SNUFF!!!"

"When did you get to play with or support SNUFF?"

Sanj "We toured with them in 2003! It was in November, it was the last tour they did, and it was the best thing for us because no one knew us"

Any plans to get back together with SNUFF for another gig?

Sanj "Hopefully when they tour in Japan, were hoping to support them there"

Taran "We do have a guitarist, he's just really shy!"

Sanj "Yeah, he's over there talking to some girls"

Taran " You know what it's like, girls love him"

Sanj "It's the charm, man!"

The current Album Greetings From Wasteland: are you still performing those songs or is there any new material you are currently writing?

Sanj "We've just done the tour, this is the last tour were doing before we go into the studio for the new album! We're working on the album now, this is the plan now, full length album, it's gonna be good, were working with Ben Mandelson, who's an amazing producer! He's helping us with the record it's gonna sound amazing! The album should be out next year!"

How many songs are there gonna be on the album?

Taran "Roughly two hundred!"

Sanj "It's a punk album, there gonna be a lot of songs, short, sweet-"

Taran "Three hundred if were lucky!"

So your really gonna push the boat out with this album?

Taran "Every song is three seconds long, but it's the first album to be done with every songs lasting three seconds!"

[At these point both Taran and Sanj perform as yet unheard and unreleased new material - a three second moment from the new album, the track title was called Spin!]

Sanj "I have to warn you know, this guy (Taran) is bullshitting you, he's a drummer he plays fast, that's all he needs to do!"

Your response to that [Addressing Taran]

Taran "Arr.. it's true!"

You gave up too easily!
When you actually write an album, is it a group collobration, who actually comes up with the ideas?

Sanj "Yeah, its normally a group collaboration, some of us will bring in riffs and take it from there. Our sound at the moment is quite sporadic, its where we come from"

Taran "We get a big pot of beans, we cooked them and the noises influcence us. I get a lot of influcene from pop-corn"

When you a get a song together, do you start with the lyrics or the guitar, how does all come together?

Simon "We get something going, and Sanj gets us to repeat it! Repeatedly until it's done"

Any plans for future gigs, future tours?

Taran "World domination is first!"

Sanj "Im trying to sort out a tour with Sixty Mile Smile at the moment, we hoping to do some shows with them "

Taran " We have a satellite that is watching you!"

Do you have any plans to play Glastonbury or Reading or any of the other major festivals?

Sanj " Our labels says get the album done first, then the doors will open for us! Hopefully!! Will see how it goes! At the moment were playing up and down the country, selling a lot of records, merchandise, making a lot of money"

When you sell the albums, who is it distributed to? How is the world spread?

Sanj "Our record label has good distributions all around the country and the world"

Taran "We also use half a dozen fireworks and strap a CD to each one, and sometimes three CD to each one, and fire them in different directions and hopefully some will find them"

At this point Sanj and Taran break off into another (potentially) exclusive Tip song! Though I wasn't quite sure. It was pretty damn good though...

At this point my questions had dried up and I called it a day!! My throat was so dry it was crying out for a pint!!!! Booze cometh!!!!!
