Last year was the year that I came across a band whom intrigued me like no other. Twice I saw them live an both times I was suitably impressed by their repertoire. A ceaseless cascade of fun loving, bouncy tracks which enticed and snared the senses. A year later, the release of their debut album, which personally has been a long time coming, reveals the fruits of their labor and intern leaves you asking for more.
The whole album is, as mentioned, crammed to the rafters with sweet little ditties, encapsulating the spirit and sense of adventure which dwells within the band. Hailing from the depths of sarf london, Morden has been reborn. Good Shoes has put a smile back on the face of pop for the massive of sarf london.
As we examine the album, we find evidence of life emanating from the town of the band. Morden, we are told, is a thriving a place as any in london. Just like, for arguments sake, Twickenham is a thriving a place, where the likes of Mystery Jets hail from. Never Meant To Hurt You, is probably the ultimate track on the album. Full of vigor and a maybe a splash of vimto! Though it has a lot of health competition from the like of Photos On My Walls, which personally has the best intro on record. Blue Eyes again has the perfect pop song qualities to it. You would be seriously hard push to find many faults on this album. All In My Head again screams pop perfection to the extreme.
The whole album exurbs quality and excellent craftmanship. These boys from sarf london have done a pretty neat job on their first project and the fruits of their labour have been rich pickings for all to see and enjoy. Good Shoes set at Reading last year was for me one of the highlights of the festival. I sincerely hope the band are back there this summer and ready to play another quality set. The album is simply bullet proof and after listening to it several times you may fancy a trip south of the thames to visit GS's home turf so a nose around!
