The View - Hats Off To The Buskers

A new year, a new start and the beginning of what could be described as the start of a new adventure. The next twelve months which lay before us can and more importantly will bring us the very best of what's on offer. For here in this mere mortal context lies a new band called The View who have released their debut album and have done pretty damn well for themselves, thank you very much! The album crammed to the ceiling with little bundles of joy are here for our enjoyment and how we have enjoyed them thus far.

Every copy of the musical bible, that you read, has the latest ditty, some hot piece of news to impart on the latest awesome band to sweep the nation. These guys from the humbleset regions of Dundee have pierced our airwaves with their first release, which exploded like dynamite onto an already active volcano. The track in question was Wasted Little DJs and I'm sure that it was warmly received and played by all and sundry, non stop from here to timbucktoo!!!

Having grabbed a copy of the album for myself I was treated to a record packed full of dynamic little ditties that had me humming from the moment the first note was struck! Even now the opening chords of Same Jeans has been forever imprinted into my memory! And speaking of the aforementioned, how good is this song! /I've been wearing the same jeans for four days now/'cause I'm going to a disco in the middle of town/everybody is dressing up, I'm dressing down/ Cries Kyle Falconer and he seems tapped into the subconscious of everyone who's every done exactly that. Scruffy and the like! Never!

Opening track Comin' Down was selected to sit neatly as a b-side on Wasted Little DJ's single. The track was recorded live and sounded mental! The album version is toned down but on slightly, the track stills shows a healthy set off very sharp teeth when played! Current radio friendly XFM buddy Superstar Tradesman hits on all levels, which can only be a good thing. Bustling and fidgety, the song is a really crowd pleaser at gigs (really, really, really want to see The View live - there a dead cert for Reading this year nudge nudge ;-D) One of my favorite tracks has to be Face For The Radio - every album has one acoustic number and here in this record it is represented in Face... just a peach of a tune, this will have you humming along to the track in no time at all! Trust me!

The whole rock element, the rock soul, if you will, lives strongly in the band, as lives on throughout the entire record. The force with which gigs are performed, with material like this, must be awe-inspiring! (really, really, really want to see them live! Anyone got a spare ticket! Willing to pay (face value only - obviously)) The View blast through your speakers and system tearing the airwaves to shreds with the magical notions of the tracks on this album! The NME awards are just around the corner, and it's odd on that the band will be heavily laden with the odd trophy or two come the end of the ceremony! This album is a sure fire gem and I would definitely, definitely, definitely recommend that you buy a copy pronto, this is one album well worth having in your collection!
